We will be
doing homework in groups of two. You have to inform us who your partner is with
the solution of your first homework. The partnership has to last the whole
semester. Choose your partners carefully. Both partners will write their effort
level on each solution.
Your grade
will be
grade = 50 + min (50, grade_obtained * percent_effort/100).
A grade of
50 is a failing grade in assignments.
You are free
to work with others in interpreting assignments. However, the solutions to the
assignments have to be solely done by the group. No exceptions.
Cheating is
a very serious offense. It will be dealt with in the most severe manner
allowable under University regulations. If caught cheating, you can expect a
failing grade and initiation of a cheating case in the University system.
Basically,
it’s an insult to the instructor, the department and major program, and
most importantly, to the person doing the cheating. Just don't.
To avoid
creating situations where copying is possible, you should not ever e-mail or
post your solution files. You can post general questions about interpretation
and tool use but limit your comments to these categories.
If in doubt
about what might constitute cheating, send e-mail
to your instructor describing the situation.
If you
notice anyone cheating, please report it to the instructor or TA and do not
deal with it yourself.
